On the mend

For the most part, I'm into Motherhood.  I'm good with all the traditional 'mommy duties', and can change a poopy diaper in 6 seconds flat.  I love the feeling I get when I cook for Grace, even if that night's dinner comes straight from the freezer.  I'm pretty okay with the fussy stuff, even when it strikes in a quite restaurant.  Fussy is okay.  Inconsolable SUCKS.

After a few particularly challenging days with Grace, we we're thrilled yesterday when Grace's fever broke and she seemed to be feeling better.  By bedtime, Grace was full of sass and didn't want to do anything that didn't involve screaming, crying and pulling viciously at her ears.  This morning, we phoned the doctor and got our butts in.

Turns out, Grace has been battling a particularly annoying virus that seems to be all the rage for kiddies her age.  The doctor informed us that Grace's ears looked good and her lungs sounded perfect.  He assured me that the fever should break in the next day or so, and that the wet and rattling cough will be gone in about 3 weeks.

3 weeks!!!!!!!!!
(Just another reason why I HATE fall/winter - disgusting viruses)

The hardest part about the past few days had definitely been the helplessness we've been feeling.  It's really difficult to watch your little one squirm and cry and be unable to do anything to ease her suffering.  Today has been better and she's napping peacefully as we speak.  Fingers crossed that Grace kicks this pesky virus sooner than the doctor predicted! Lord knows we could all use a good nights sleep.
