It's a Wonderful Life

Christmas this year was wonderful as per usual, but this year packed a little extra awesome.  Grace really got the whole present thing and was a real trooper through all of the holiday craziness.

We spent Christmas Eve at my parents, where we ate copious amounts of food, and opened even more presents.  I think Grace might have been a little gun shy at first but she jumped right in after she realized there were toys under all that pretty paper.

Grace made out like a bandit, bringing home a full load of toys, books, clothes, and even a little candy.  Needless to say, by 11:30pm Christmas Eve, "Santa" and I were ready to crash.  After filling the stockings and some last minute wrapping, I treated myself to a glass of wine (using my new glasses! thanks Mom!), and my first full viewing of  "It's a Wonderful Life".

Grace woke up at 11:30am (thanks grace), as if she knew we'd be too exhausted for a 9am wake up call.  She was psyched when she saw all the presents waiting for her and dove right in.  After Ryan made us a delicious breakfast and a Skype session with her Grammys and Grampy in Florida, she went down for a nap, and we set out to tame the pile of boxes and mountain of wrapping paper.  By the time we were done, it was time to hit the road and brace ourselves for round three of Grace's Christmas extravaganza.

We were met with even more gifts from Great Grandma, aunts, uncles, and cousins (and Santa, of course!).  Us adults enjoyed our first annual White Elephant exchange and had a blast (thanks for the turkey!).  After the car was loaded and our bellies we full, we set our sights for home.  On the ride home, I couldn't help but glance back and Grace, wondering if she expects this type of thing every day from now on!

With Grace in bed and the house mostly picked up, I can finally relax.  Watching Grace's little face light up this morning was well worth the exhaustion and paper cut fingers (thanks fisher price for the easy open boxes, NOT).  How lucky we are to have such a beautiful and bright little girl in our lives.  For us, everyday is Christmas.
