Toddler Insomnia BLOWS

Getting Grace to bed lately has been a nightmare.  Getting Grace to stay in bed has been even worse. For whatever reason, my once miracle sleeper has turned into the anti-crib, and absolutely refuses to settle down long enough to doze off.  If only G appreciated the sanctity of sleep like her Mama.

So now, after fifteen long months of flip flopped schedules, late nights, and early mornings, I'm feeling a little bummed out.  For a while there, Grace was going to sleep around 10pm and waking around 10am.  Sounds okay, right?  I know many people put their children to bed much earlier, but with Ryan's late work schedule and my lust for sleeping in, we stuck to what worked for US.  Grace seemed to be doing just fine and Ryan and I were finally getting used to this schedule as well. Then, the death virus struck, followed shortly by two molars, and just like that our hard earned schedule had gone up in smoke.

Grace hit the sheets today around 9pm tonight, which was a delightful surprise considering the fight she put up at nap time.  After a few hours of relaxing and a couple of chapters of my book, I was off to bed. Not five minutes later, Grace started shrieking.  After a few minutes of shusshing and cuddling - it became clear that Grace was NOT going back to bed.

Several laps around the living room, lots of cuddles, and an episode of Yo Gabba Gabba later, G started to look sleepy.

It's 2:29am and I just got Grace back to bed.  Here's hoping she decides to sleep late tomorrow! :)
